Treatment Process

Step 1: Book an appointment and Visit Us

Your first visit to our practice will be for your initial consultation. Either Dr Jenny Flanagan (Sligo Clinic) or Dr Eibhín O'Leary (Ballina Clinic) will undertake a clinical exam of your teeth to assess your specific orthodontic needs, discuss any orthodontic issues, and go through suitable treatment options for you.

We will also provide you with a specific quote and simple monthly payment plan based on your orthodontic needs.

Step 2: Records & Bond-Up

Once you decide you’re ready for a life with straight teeth, we arrange your appointment to fit the brace, or in the case of aligner treatment take your initial digital scan. We will also take start-of-treatment records including an X-Ray and photos, as well as providing you with a Patient Care Kit to take care of your oral hygiene during treatment.

Step 3: Routine Appointments

Routine appointments are generally carried out every 4-8 weeks throughout the course of your treatment. These appointments allow us to assess your progress and make adjustments needed to the brace. Toward the end of treatment you may be seen more regularly every 1-3 weeks as the finer details of your smile is perfected.

We also include the benefit of Dental Monitoring during your treatment. We will provide you with a Scanbox and instructions on taking your first scan using Dental Monitoring. This will allow us to carry out virtual weekly checks in between your routine appointments.

Step 4: De-bonding

Once your teeth are in their final position we remove the fixed appliance to reveal your new and improved smile. This is the exciting part!

Step 5: Aftercare

We offer follow-up review appointments in the year after your treatment has ended. This is in order to monitor the teeth and to ensure that there is no unexpected movement of the teeth.
